Why are they like this??

We hear this sentence all to often in our groups and counselling rooms, and if we're honest, we've said it ourselves about our own children.  Parenting is hard, and sometimes we loose sight of what the little people in our lives are actually feeling or going through.  Their behaviour is speaking to us, but are we hearing the message?

Behaviour Speaks

is an online, self paced course

aimed at parents and professionals, which focuses on understanding the unmet needs of your child or the children you work with. Using the latest evidenced based research, Behaviour Speaks helps you change the lens you look at your child with, impacting your relationship and the work you do.
This online course includes a case study and reflection exercises to help you go through the material in an experiential way.

Who is Arise?

Arise Family is an NGO based in Cape Town, South Africa. We believe that every child is created to be part of a thriving family. Our goal is to support families to thrive, however they are formed. In practice, this means we use strength-based and resilience building interventions as we work with children, parents and caregivers to strengthen and equip families so that they can be a place where children feel safe, loved, and find a sense of belonging. Behaviour Speaks helps equip others to help children do just that!
Arise Family has over 14 years’ experience in programme development, facilitation, family strengthening and adoption support. Our team consists of psychologists, social workers and play therapists; many of whom are adoptive parents. We bring our education, experience, and skills to provide evidence based and strength building resources to South Africa in ways that promote growth and resilience. Behaviour Speaks is a stepping stone into helping your family thrive!

What do others have to say?

“Behaviour Speaks was a great learning experience and I appreciate your efforts in organising and presenting the material in such a clear and concise manner. Your passion and enthusiasm were evident ... and I found your examples, the videos and insights incredibly helpful. I particularly enjoyed the ice-breaker, which really got be thinking about how some young people might be facing unfair circumstances and feel like their choices are limited. I feel confident to apply what I have learned from your workshop and am excited to incorporate these skills into my work.”
